JMK MALIBU KEN

The 5W Ranch wishes to express its
immense sorrow over the
death of “Kenny.”

Throughout his show and breeding career, the 5W Ranch had the honor of serving as Kenny’s home.  From his many successes and travels, Kenny always returned to the 5W Ranch and the devoted care of Donna.  Upon entering the barn, with sure steps through the indoor arena, Kenny always knew to “turn right” to his stall – no matter how long the absence.

While the world knew Kenny as a World Champion, to the 5W Ranch, Kenny was our own special champion.  We fed him, brushed him, nursed him, scratched and whispered to him, checked in with him on nightly rounds, sharing a snack. We started and ended each day with the “stall on the right.”

We wish to thank Kenny for teaching us humility in the face of greatness; courage and steadfastness in the midst of hopelessness and to appreciate the calm after the storm.

We thank Dr. and Mrs. Brakefield for allowing us to share Kenny's life.

(Photos by Melodie Argyle who captured Kenny's life and personality on camera - and admired him so.)

In memory of Kenny, we share Sonnet XLI, by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

I thank all who have loved me in their hearts,
With thanks and love from mine. Deep thanks to all
Who paused a little near the prison-wall
To hear my music in its louder parts
Ere they went onward, each one to the mart's
Or temple's occupation, beyond call.
But thou, who, in my voice's sink and fall
When the sob took it, thy divinest Art's
Own instrument didst drop down at thy foot
To hearken what I said between my tears, . . .
Instruct me how to thank thee ! Oh, to shoot
My soul's full meaning into future years,
That they should lend it utterance, and salute
Love that endures, from Life that disappears !
